Have you no shame? When kings reigned supreme, nobility was considered divine countenance. Social class was obviously the natural order of things. Everything had its place. But, inevitably everything changes. In fact, change is the natural order of things. Nevertheless, the idea of change is a real threat to those to whom change would mean losing special privileges. A woman running for President, according to “The sky is falling,” Chicken Little, O’Reilly, will result in disaster. Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, and Indira Gandhi, notwithstanding, the Republican War on Women is a good example of what traditionalists think of female capabilities. No wonder Trump has a solid block of Americans supporting his buffoonery. No wonder top Republicans are saying, “just because I vote for Trump, doesn’t mean I agree with him.” Integrity is trotted out by the GOP only when it is not inconvenient. The idea of following your conscience is a Republican excuse for repeating erroneous principles as if repetition makes stupidity acceptable. Voting for Trump, Republicans will tell you, makes just as much sense as, “say no to sex” to avoid pregnancy. How many Republicans will actually vote for Trump? Only each voter will know. All we can ask is, “Have you no shame?
