A future of poorer than parents

A future of poorer than parents: Income inequality is greater in the US than any other democracy in the developed world. The 2012 inequality index level was the same as it was in 1928 just prior to the great stock market crash and the Great Depression. Political scientists state unequivocally that the US is near the breaking point. Multi-millionaire RightWingers O’Reilly, Hannity, and Limbaugh laugh off inequality conning millions of listeners into believing they never had it so good, that money trickles down from wealth, and anyway it’s all Obama’s fault. Millions of young Americans will be poorer than their parents, never get a good education, a good job, or a step up the ladder of success available before the Great Conservative Movement of the 1970s. Since then stagnation has ruled the middle class and the inequality gap soared. Both parties claim they will close the loopholes, but wealth controls what congress will or will not do. So far, Capitalism is sacred. Criticism is cowed. Equal opportunity is sandbagged by the golden rule: Whoever has the gold makes the rules. Inherited wealth is continuing to grow. The privileged will never give up their privileges until another Roosevelt comes along and demands a fair deal for all Americans. Richard Dorsey, Hacienda Heights, CA.
