The Lesson of Gov. Mario Cuomo

The Lesson of Gov. Mario Cuomo: Winner-take-all politics/economics is bad for America. To build a “more perfect union,” united we must stand for divided we will fall. Every American deserves the promised equal opportunity for prosperity. Success of the individual resides in the success of the community. To achieve community success, Government provides a “hand-up,” so too many won’t be left behind. Government will never replace the individual desire to get ahead. Only by a strong, compassionate, effective government can a community realize prosperity. In tribute to a child of immigrants who gave back more than he received, The Lesson of Gov. Mario Cuomo should read: “Act not just in what is good for you, but act good for what is just for your community.” Richard Dorsey, Hacienda Heights, CA.
