Anti-Democratic Americans

Anti-Democratic AmericansAmericans against government are against Democracy.  The purpose of government is the prosperity of the people. Democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people. All the people. Not just a privileged few, not just those who pay taxes, but all American citizens. Those are the facts. You may have a different opinion, but those are the facts. Small government is anti-Democracy just as anti-big government is anti-Democracy. Progress is determined not by wealth but by opportunity.  Progress is providing an equal opportunity to all citizens. Progress is electing a government that does things people cannot do as individuals. Russia is small government. China is small government. North Korea and Iran are small governments. Big government is public education, national defense, police, fire and disease control…interstate highways, bridges, dams, canals, waterways, and catastrophe relief…national security, national guard, armed forces, nationwide air control, electrical grids, pollution control and parks and recreation…a national banking system, social security, and economical medical care. Small government was slavery, taxation without representation, the divine right of rulers, and rigid social classes. America can only be the land of opportunity for all with the big government that gave woman the right to vote, racial citizenship, the five-day work-week and vacations. Big government sometime suffers from waste and fraud, but so does business, the cost of which is passed to the consumer. Better a cumbersome government than profit deciding who lives or dies. Tea Party is small government, me-only America, third-world thinking, where only the lucky prosper.  Government is not  “they” in Washington, it is you and I working together for the greater good of the nation as well as our selves. Anyone who hates big government is demonstrating they hate Democracy.  Richard Dorsey, Hacienda Heights, CA.
