Small government is the enemy of a free people.

Small government is the enemy of a free people.

Small government is for third-world nations, run by narrow-minded minority with parochial interests. Small government is the birthplace for dictators, the tyranny of the few over the many, for a tradition of ignorance, hate and intolerance. Small government takes away all individual freedoms and replaces them with restricted conformity.  You cannot be a great nation with small government. You cannot be a world leader with small government. You cannot even be a representative democracy with small government. Small government means the freedom of wealth to exploit the have-nots.  Small government is where those without money sell their votes to their masters in return for a life of resignation. Small government fosters isolation, antagonism, and distrust.  Small government is anti-progress, anti-change, and anti-improvement.  It is impossible for small governments to compete in a global economy. Small governments do not have a national banking system. They cannot borrow or lend and have no central economic development system for creating railroads, highways, airports, universities, critical medical research, disease control, counter terrorism, or modern military. To all those clamoring for state rights be aware that state government was already obsolete prior to the Roman Empire.  Our founding fathers soundly rejected small government and states rights signing an constitution for a national government run by federal laws.  Small government is nothing more a slogan fostered by business to maintain avoid unprofitable government regulations. The small government slogan has been co-opted by political regressives unable to adapt in a changing world. There is no, “America is number one” in small government, only poverty and despair under the thumb of the wealthy few who end up controlling everything.
